Updated BCIS datasets include items to help deliver net zero CO2 emissions in line with Building Regulation changes

Published: 25/08/2022

The government announced several changes to the Building Regulations in England with a view to reducing CO2 emissions in construction and delivering net zero CO2 emissions by 2050.

So, in response, several new items have been added to the BCIS datasets. The new additions will help users reduce CO2 emissions and meet the new requirements.

The new items include:

  • Heat pump system – air source
  • Integrated electric vehicle charging point
  • Permeable block paving
  • Low carbon sustainable masonry – straw bale
  • Kiln dried C24 regularised treated timber in Woodwork section
  • Organic, designer colour, Feng Shui emulsion paints in Painting and Decorating section

Photovoltaic panels (PV) and Ground source heat pump (GSHP), already included in previous editions, have been reviewed and updated.

The chart below details the total number of rates and resources available in the 2023 editions of BCIS Major Works, BCIS Minor Works and BCIS Alterations and Refurbishment. Most rates include labour constants and detailed build ups.
