The Built Environment Carbon Database (BECD) is envisioned to become the main source of data for carbon estimating and benchmarking for the UK construction sector and a practical instrument to support the decarbonisation of the built environment.
Following the first consultation in July, we have now improved the data structure based on the feedback received. Now, the BECD entity section is entering the testing phase of the project. A beta version of the entity section of BECD will be open for a second consultation period from Thursday 3rd November to Friday 16th December.
The service, again, needs the input of the industry. The beta version will be empty, and limited to the “data input” functionality. By entering test data, users will be able to explore the database interface and the improved data structure, but will not be able to perform data analysis and benchmarking, as these functionalities are still in development.
Users will have the opportunity to provide feedback through a short questionnaire. This feedback will be used to make the final adjustments to the interface and data structure of the entity section of BECD.
