This role is crucial in maintaining and developing the BCIS product suite. The construction industry is changing, and our service is evolving to remain relevant and continue to serve the industry. We are continually striving to find more innovative, efficient, and sustainable ways of collecting, analysing, processing, and presenting our data.

You will be a part of the Indices and Forecasting team, working alongside the wider team of the leading industry professionals, data architects, economists, project data specialists, statisticians and construction data analysts to deliver industry insights. The purpose of this role is to analyse construction data (materials prices, commodities, wage rates, etc.) and economic data to produce industry insights that support BCIS forecasts and bespoke consultancy work. You will ideally have analytical or consulting background with an interest in market trends, data analytics, benchmarking, industry insights and thought leadership. You can offer fresh and exciting ways to present data in a clear and impactful manner.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Collection, analysis, and synthesis of economic and market data
  • Producing industry insights and providing an input to the economic briefing publications
  • Inform assumptions of the BCIS forecasting model
  • Work with subscribers, Product Management and Marketing departments to maximise the effectiveness of data products
  • Experienced research analyst or consultant with an understanding of construction and real estate market (cost / real estate consultancy background is preferrable but not essential)
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a proven ability to gather, manipulate and interpret data
  • Experience in writing reports to a high standard
  • Understanding of the construction industry and its supply chain, construction data products and indices is preferrable
  • Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI/Tableau; a knowledge of statistical software packages and data science techniques would be an advantage
